WHAT TO EXPECT
Lessons are based on annual enrollment. Tuition covers 44 Weekly Private Piano Lessons. We are closed the other 8 weeks of the year due to Holidays and Teacher Vacation or Illness. Holidays include Labor Day (September 1-2), Thanksgiving (November 26-30), Christmas and New Year's (December 20-January 4), Memorial Day (May 23-27), and US Independence Day (July 2-5). You will be assigned a spot on the Studio Schedule that works well for both you and your teacher each week. 30-Minute Lessons are available to beginners playing at the Primer Level. As the student advances, they will be promoted to longer lessons (45-Minute or 60-Minute).
LESSON ESSENTIALS
Students will be assigned a standard curriculum from an appropriate method book. Younger students will work their way through Bastien Piano Basics, and Adult Learners will be assigned Alfred's All-In-One Basic Piano Course. Upon completion of all levels, students will transition to curriculum established by the Royal Conservatory of Music. Supplemental music books may be assigned based on student interests, goals, as well as the need for performance repertoire.
Each week, students will spend time with their teacher in a lesson learning proper technique, fundamentals to reading music, understanding theory, and learning a new piece of music. Students will be given assignments to continue practicing at home in preparation for the following week's lesson.
Students are taught how to practice efficiently at home. Quantity of time spent practicing is less important than Quality of time spent practicing! However, showing up and sitting down is a key first step to consistent growth. Students are not required to practice to maintain enrollment, though student progress is not then guaranteed. YOU set the pace for your musical growth!

MISSED LESSONS
Missed lessons are inevitable due to vacations, sickness, and scheduling conflicts. It is imperative that you find a time that works well consistently each week to avoid unnecessary cancellations. Tuition has 2 Student-Missed cancellations built in, and so it is not necessary to reschedule. Making up a missed lesson is never a guarantee, but if proper notice is given to the teacher and a spot is available within the same week then an honest attempt to reschedule the lesson will be made.
If a student is sick, please use your best judgment as early as possible to decide if a lesson is still possible. In cases of fever or vomiting, lessons should be canceled. For students feeling slightly ill and still wanting to have a lesson, Online Lessons are recommended until the student is healthy again.
Missed lessons are not available for refunds or future credits. Please remember that tuition is based on enrollment, not use.
